New Fiat Punto

A gap that needed to be filled in the Fiat local line-up was the need for an affordable, modern entry-level hatchback and with the local launch of the new Fiat Punto 1.2 Active, this seems to now be the case.

The Fiat Punto 1.2 Active, with its very stylish and modern design, its 8-valve 1.2-litre FIRE engine that produces 49 kW at 6 000 r/min and 96 Nm at 2 500 r/min, is in local Fiat showrooms already and proves to be the filling for that gap.

At a price of R106 900, it would seem this new car from Fiat is set to take the segment by storm, even better, if you are one of those that cannot wait to upgrade their vehicles to the latest and greatest, the introductory launch price is an astonishing R99 900.

Fiat Auto SA has not supplied a 0-100km/h acceleration time, but we where able to find out that the Punto Active 1.2 does come standard with power steering, air conditioning and electric front windows, while there will be no ABS brakes nor any airbags.

During the second half of this year, the all-new Italian-built Punto Evo will make its local debut. Clearly an "evolution", hence the Evo, of the Grande Punto, we have noticeably that it is more upmarket in terms of styling, spec and performance.

The new Punto comes with a three-year/100 000 warranty and Fiat’s free roadside assistance for a year.
