First we heard of the Chevy Volt, then the Tesla Roadster, the Toyota Prius will apparently soon have a plug-in version. But the talk of the town is South Africa's very own and our first electric vehicle in the six-seater Joule MPV developed by technology startup Optimal Energy based in Cape Town. {mosimage} This all-electric car, just revealed at the Paris Motor Show, claims to have a 200km range on one battery back or 400km with two packs. Optimal Energy tells us that, the Joule is all-electric, the drivetrain includes motor-driven wheels up front and in-wheel magnetic propulsion in the rear. {mosimage}{mosimage} Joule is as beautiful and elegant as it is stylish with a classically timeless appeal set to transform the face of the urban transportation landscape. Developed from the outset as an electric vehicle, Joule delivers optimal design, maximum interior space and a minimal exterior and environmental footprint. Source: Optimal Energy
